How do I become a electrician?
Run, don't walk to the local IBEW and ask about the apprentice program. It is a 4-5 year program to attain a journey level status. During this time you will work and also get schooling through the local apprenticeship program. You will get paid while working and gain on job training to go with your schooling. There are different branches of the electrical trade from residential, to industrial, to lineman, communication and broadcast and television and cable. The entry requirements are different in each area. Ask, the worst that can happen is you are told that there are no openings now. Apply and qualify for the program, take additional schooling if you need it.
